Halsey McKay is pleased to present Killer Moon, Glen Baldridge’s first solo exhibition with the gallery. Building upon his sui generis combination of photography, drawing, and printmaking, Killer Moon presents a series of pictures derived from images shot at night with a game camera and a totemic glowing sculpture. Automatically triggered by wind, insects, and otherwise unseen forces of the night, the subsequent photos are screenprinted onto sheets of graphite-covered watercolored paper. The graphite is erased away to reveal the image amid the painted watercolor ground, evoking night vision and other haunting glows. Ideas about surveillance, paranoia, and the supernatural are implied but so too are the visions of teenage partiers who find themselves in the woods, but not too far afield from their mowed suburban lawns.
