For the Fall season HALSEY MCKAY GALLERY will divide the schedule in to two exhibitons examining approaches to abstract painting by thirty four artists. The first, titled Paint Off, Paint On, will focus on artists who use idiosyncratic materials and approaches in their explorations. Hot glue, ceramics, dust, metal studs, the sun, styrofoam, pasta, bone and bedsheets are all employed for both defense, and spite, of medium specificity and the picture plane.
