HALSEY MCKAY is excited to present Magic Mushrooms, a two-person exhibition with Polly Apfelbaum and Joanne Greenbaum. Mental maps, architechtural structures, and interlocking networks abound in Greenbaum’s paintings and Apfelbaum’s site-specific installations. While Greenbaum deftly orchestrates marks of oil, inks and flashe into disorienting and confident compositions, a kindred use of color and similarly virtuosic handling is given hyperlogical structure in Apfelbaums’ suspended terra cotta and porcelin bead works. Fellow travelers, floating together, on walls and in space.
